Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Appcognito app for Android and this website (together, the "Service"), provided by Seozial ("we", "us"). By downloading, accessing or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Appcognito helps you block distracting apps and websites, run focus sessions, and build healthier habits. It is available for Android only and is a self-help tool. You remain responsible for your device, your settings and your choices.

2. Eligibility

You must be old enough to form a binding contract and to use the Google Play Store in your country, or have the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. Where Appcognito is set up on a child's device, the supervising adult is responsible for that use.

3. Your account and data

Appcognito has no account system. Your configuration and activity are stored on your device, as described in the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for safeguarding your device and any PIN or accountability code you set.

4. License and acceptable use

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable license to use the Service lawfully. You agree not to:

• copy, modify, reverse engineer or redistribute the app except as permitted by law;
• circumvent, disable or interfere with security or licensing features;
• use the Service to harm, surveil or coerce another person without their informed consent;
• use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.

5. Free plan, free trial, Pro and promotions

Appcognito offers a free plan and an optional paid plan ("Pro"). The free plan is usable with no time limit. We may adjust the features included in each plan over time, and will avoid removing materially valuable features from a plan you have already paid for.

Free trial. A new install may receive a one-time free trial that unlocks Pro for a limited period (currently 7 days), with no card and no account required. The trial is limited to one per device. Because there is no account, we enforce this with the privacy-preserving device check described in our Privacy Policy, so reinstalling the app does not grant a fresh trial. When the trial ends, Appcognito keeps working on the free plan, with some Pro features limited. We may change, limit or end the trial offer at any time.

Promotions and giveaways. From time to time we run optional, free promotions, such as Mindful Monday or other weekly draws for a chance to win Pro access. Entry is free, is limited to one entry per person, and winners are selected at random. A winner is contacted using the email they provided and given a Google Play promo code to redeem. Summary rules are on our giveaway page. Promotions are void where prohibited by law.

If you win and redeem your code, the prize is Appcognito Pro delivered as a Google Play subscription with a promotional free period (currently 90 days). That subscription is part of the Service and is governed by these Terms, including section 6 below and Google Play's own terms. You are not charged during the free period. When the 90-day period ends, the subscription renews automatically at the then-current Pro price unless you cancel first. You may cancel at any time before the free period ends in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions; if you cancel before it ends, the subscription will not renew and you will not be charged for the following period. After the free period, the standard cancellation rules in section 6 apply.

6. Purchases, renewals and cancellation

• Pro is sold through Google Play as a yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. Google processes all payments under your Google Play account and terms. The same applies to Pro unlocked through a giveaway promo code (see section 5).
• A subscription renews automatically until cancelled. You can cancel any time in Google Play; cancellation stops future renewals and does not retroactively refund the current period.
• Refunds follow Google Play's policies. Displayed prices are indicative; Google shows the exact localized price at checkout.
• A lifetime purchase grants Pro for the lifetime of the product on the platform, not a personal guarantee of perpetual service beyond what is reasonably operable.

7. Accountability and lock features

Features such as parental or partner lock, app lock and uninstall protection add helpful friction, not guaranteed tamper-proof security. They can depend on device permissions that you or another person can change, and on behaviour of the operating system and device manufacturer. They are an aid to self-control, not a guarantee.

8. No guarantee of results

The Service is a tool to support your focus. We do not guarantee that it will block every possible app or site, that blocking cannot be bypassed, or that it will produce any particular outcome for your wellbeing or productivity.

9. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties such as Google Play for distribution and billing. This website additionally uses Google Tag Manager and analytics to understand site traffic, and Supabase to store launch-list emails. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and policies, which we do not control. How cookies and analytics are used on the website, and how to accept or decline them, is described in our Privacy Policy.

Optional AI focus feature. The app includes an optional automation ("Off-topic") that helps you stay on a study topic. It is off by default. When you enable it you provide your own API key for a third-party AI provider (OpenRouter), and, in its Strict mode, text read from your screen is sent directly from your device to that provider using your key, as described in our Privacy Policy. That provider is not operated or controlled by us; your use of it is governed by its own terms and privacy policy, and you use the feature at your own risk. We do not run any AI model of our own, do not receive or store the text sent, and are not responsible for the provider's availability, output, costs or handling of your data. You are responsible for keeping your key secure and for any usage charges the provider applies. You may turn the feature off, or remove your key, at any time.

10. Intellectual property

The Service, including its name, logo, the Aurith character, design, text and software, is owned by Seozial and protected by applicable law. These Terms do not grant you any ownership of it.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Seozial is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or any loss of data, time, profits or productivity. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing here removes any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the laws of your country of residence.

14. Changes and termination

We may update the Service or these Terms. When the Terms change we will update the date above, and continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the app. We may suspend or end access if you materially breach these Terms.

15. Severability and entire agreement

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
